Steve Wadden is an award winning, independant photojournalist based in Sydney, NS. It would be futile to describe his work when a client of Wadden summed it up so eloquently..."his photos are less like emulsion and paper, and more like seeing the world and his subject matter directly through his eyes" award winning folk musician, JP Cormier. Born in 1981, into a unique and diverse life on Cape Breton Island, Wadden has seen his share of good and bad. He has lived most of his life in an era of economic decline and the resulting hardships in Cape Breton. It is because of this that he attributes his influence to the strong will and character of the Island's people. Steve has been quoted as saying, "the human condition is often misunderstood...I think that through my work, I can create a vision of compassion and understanding in the viewer's eyes". A passion for creating truly compelling images and living for that next amazing photograph is what drives him to success. Wadden's unique approach, sheer dedication, and determination sets him apart from the rest. To put it plainly, he is never satisfied until his best efforts have been put forth. As a photojournalist, Steve knows that he must be able to adapt quickly while remaining sensitive to the pulse of life while working on any story. He also knows the joy and pain of sharing stories with the people he meets...."I feel honored and humbled to have people open up to me and share very personal moments in their lives....there are very few things more touching in my life"
